Am I the only person who still pauses when they have to write down 2012 on a piece of paper?
2012 got off to a great start and it seems to be flying by. My New Years was really amazing! I spent it with the Panda and the boys in Copenhagen, Denmark. I felt so much love and warmth during my week in Copenhagen that it was hard for me to return to Berlin. Our New Years was a fusion of both old and new, a little bit of them and a little bit of me. I introduced the family to raclette (SUCCESS!!), and they introduced me to Kransekake, which is a marzipan ring cake that we made from scratch. (Talk about cultural immersion!) It was all in all, great multi-culti family fun...aside from me almost losing an arm during a rocket mishap. :) So I'm here with all my limbs and digits with a heart yearning to see my Panda and his cubs again.
Ah so now to the around the world bit. When you guys are done being jealous of my Scandi-partner awesomeness. Please check out the videos from fellow travel bloggers and friends Oneika the Traveller and Fly Brother.
We realized that not only would we be in different geographic locations on Dec 31, but the way we were bringing in the New Year would also be drastically different. I was on my "Dad's-cool-girlfriend" swag in Copenhagen while Oneika housepartied in Berlin and Ernest was taking part in debauchery on the beaches of Rio. In an effort to share our experiences with our readers, fans, and subscribers we came up with the New Year from Around the World concept. Enjoy! Be sure to thumbs up the vids.
How and where did you celebrate New Year Eve this year?

ReplyDeleteAnd that marzipan cake sounds AMAZING.
@ deidre i love raclette. i try to have it at least twice a winter season. just hits the spot but wow all the cheese sits with you for a few days LOL. The marzipan cake is literally marzipan and egg baked in rings and stuck together with an icing made from sugar. LOL.it was a family project!
DeleteLooks like a fun NYE. Is it just me or was the Little Mermaid and lot littler than expected?

ReplyDeleteAnyway, love your blog.
How did I manage to miss this back in January when you first posted I don't know, but its nice to put a voice to both you and Oneika! I have been meaning to check out fly brother's site, but haven't had the chance to as yet. I will do because I love Brazil ... even though I've never been there! And fly brother is pretty cute too! lol Great collaborative effort!
